Creative Arts Emmy’s aired Sept. 12
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony took place on, Sept. 12 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony celebrates the technical and behind-the-scenes work including the efforts from make-up artists, choreographers, CGI artists, stunt coordinators and more, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. HBO walked away with many of the top awards, with “Game of Thrones” winning eight Creative Arts Emmys. “American Horror Story: Freak Show” walked away with five wins. Entertainment Weekly reports the Creative Arts Emmys will be broadcasted on Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on FXX. The Primetime Emmys are scheduled to air the following day, on Sept. 20, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. Plane crashes in Tom Cruise’s new film
On Sept. 11, a small plane carrying three crew members of Tom Cruise’s new film “Mena” crashed in the Columbian mountains, according to CNN. Hollywood stunt pilot Alan D. Purwin and Carlos Brel were killed in the crash. Jimmy Lee Garland was the only person to survive the crash with injuries to his legs, arms, face and chest, as reported by CNN. Two weeks ago, Purwin posted a photo about working with Cruise on his Instagram account, according to E! News. The caption on Instagram read: “‘pushing the envelope in every way. Working on a super interesting, true story film with Tom Cruise.’”
Ronda Rousey set to star in ‘Road House’
UFC fighter Ronda Rousey is set to star in the remake “Road House,” a 1989 film starring Patrick Swayze, according to Vanity Fair. The film features a bouncer who gets hired as the head of security for a new bar that is terrorized by a corrupt businessman, and he must teach his employees to deal with dangerous situations, as reported by E! News. “Road House” is taking a new direction with Rousey stepping in as the protagonist, the news source reports. The 28-year-old reached out to Swayze’s wife, Lisa Niemi, to ask for her blessing to play the iconic role, according to E! News, which Niemi gave. Rousey has previously made appearances in “The Expendables 3,” “Entourage” and “Fast and Furious 7,” according to Vanity Fair, with most of her scenes being fight scenes. Vanity Fair reported filming for “Road House” won’t start until 2016.
