California Lutheran University celebrated the International Day of Peace through a Procession for Peace, chapel service, and rededication ceremony of the CLU Peace Pole in the Chapel Rose Garden during regular Thursday chapel.ย
Associate Vice President of Mission and Identity Rev. Dr. Colleen Windham-Hughes said that this observance was put together collaboratively through a beautiful partnership between the Center for Global Engagement, Rev. Scott Adams, Campus Ministry, and the students.
โSo itโs this beautiful partnership where the Center for Global Engagement has great relationships with international students and invited them to process with the flags in this demonstration of our commitment to peace and then to connect it to our regular Thursday chapel,โ Windham-Hughes said.
According to the CLU website, this observation of peace serves as an invitation to come together as a community and work towards sustainable peace. Attendees were invited to reflect on and celebrate the International Day of Peace.
โWhatโs important is emphasizing the need for peace in our world and in our communities, as well as between individuals and bringing people together for that authentic connection,โ junior Soren Ficklin said.
