California Lutheran University’s biannual Involvement Fair provides students with opportunities to discover and join a variety of clubs and organizations on campus. On Tuesday, Sept. 9, club officers promoted their clubs and recruited new members by setting up tables along the spine and throughout Kingsmen Park.
Students were invited to walk through the variety of booths set up to learn more about the clubs offered, make friends and build connections with peers.
“History Club is meant to be super accessible regardless of whether or not you’re, like, a history major or minor,” said senior Israel Lozano, president of the History Club. “We try to do a lot of interactive things with, like, game nights…we’re doing Pictionary this month.”
The wide range of clubs and organizations featured at this event serve a variety of purposes and appeal to a variety of students.
“Beach Volleyball Club is honestly just about, like, getting a community get together who love to play beach volleyball,” said junior Emily Jalisi, vice president of Beach Volleyball Club. “You know, we’re trying to stay active, we’re trying to stay positive [and] happy. It’s a fun little club for people to come out, like, make friends and also just have a good time.”
Jalisi said that the Involvement Fair is important because of how it brings different people together and lets them find their community of people who like similar things as they do, apart from their usual group of friends.
“It’s a great way for Cal Lu students to find community, to find either things that they’re already interested in, and groups that they can associate with for that, or to try something new,” Lozano said.
