Kingsmen win regular season championship

Something extraordinary happened this past weekend for the Kingsmen baseball team. After relying on offensive prowess for much of the current 14-game winning streak, No. 7 Cal Lutheran received a pair of pitching gems Saturday afternoon as they swept SCIAC foe La Verne 4-2 and 7-1 at Ullman Stadium.

Cal Lutheran’s two starting pitchers, junior Tyler Hebda and sophomore Scott Peters, combined to pitch 14.2 innings, yielding only three runs to the Leopards. With the sweep, Cal Lutheran officially locked up the No. 1 seed heading into SCIAC pool play beginning next week.

With their final season coming to an end, the seniors need to be recognized for everything they’ve done for the baseball program this season. The group of seniors this year has kept the entire team grounded during such an intense season of skilled play, but also know how to remain light-hearted and humorous. This week the seniors were asked a few questions to show their fellow Kingsmen that sports don’t have to be all work and no fun.
