CLU Dance Team hosted Dancing With the CLU Stars on Friday, April 26. The competition took place at the Preus-Brandt Forum at California Lutheran University at 8 p.m.
CLU Dance Team members were paired with a Cal Lutheran student to compete for first place and a people’s choice award.
Junior Amanda Janssen participated in the competition as a “star performer” based on her involvement with iCLU Radio.
Janssen performed a samba-style dance with fellow Cal Lutheran students Maddie Vaughan and Ali Gregory to a mashup of “Livin La Vida Loca” by Ricky Martin, Hot Wings (I Wanna Party) from the Rio soundtrack, and Mi Primera Samba.
“The Cal Lutheran Dance Team are some of the most amazing women that I have met on campus and worked so hard to make all of the stars feel welcomed and supported from the beginning. Rehearsals were filled with laughter and cheers of the entire cast supporting one another and the event itself was a beautiful culmination of all the hard work our stars and coaches put into making their dances memorable and fun,” Janssen said.
The winners of the competition were Theresa Brown, Dani Pickard, and Arron Yoshida. They performed the tango to Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”.
