The Associated Students California Lutheran University Government Programs Board hosted a drive-in movie event, showing the movie “10 Things I Hate About You” on Thursday, Feb. 20.
The event was public for all students, with snacks, drinks, and Mister Softee ice cream provided. The Programs Board also adapted the event to accommodate students who do not drive or have cars on campus by providing chairs and blankets to watch the film.
ASCLUG Programs Board Director, senior Ali Gregory said the goal for this event was to have as many students come out, as well as to give students something to do on campus. Gregory said that the reason they host these events is to allow students to take a break from studying and engage with one another.
Gregory, along with the board, came up with the idea inspired by individual ideas and the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
“My dream date, my dream vacation is to go to a drive-in movie and a lot of my reps knew that, so when our Valentine’s Day committee came together to try and figure out what activity they wanted to do, they said, ‘let’s do a drive-in movie,’ ” Gregory said.
Gregory said that ASCLUG tries to host as many events as they can, but due to budgetary challenges, it is not always possible, although they aim to host one or two events per month.
Students can find future ASCLUG events on The Hub or directly on ASCLUG’s website.
