California Lutheran University held its annual Flea Market in Kingsmen Park on Nov. 21, 2024. Students gathered to explore the booths which consisted of secondhand clothing items, handmade crafts and jewelry, and curated thrifted finds.ย
From handmade ceramic pieces, crochet crafts, beaded jewelry and shoes, the market had a broad array of items for sale. The event allowed students to browse and shop from vendors while music played in the background
Lily Shimabuku, a junior at Cal Lutheran, had a booth selling her ceramics and crochet crafts. Shimabuku said this was her second year being a vendor on campus.
โI make ceramics and I started in high school and I continued in college, and then I kind of got into crocheting during COVID, so, I sell both crochet and ceramics,โ Shimabuku said.
Other vendors were busy laying out clothing, setting up their tables, and interacting with customers. Several booths had handmade items, and others had solely clothing items for sale.ย
Per The Hub calendar, the flea market was a chance for theย Entrepreneurship Club to fundraise for the Ethos Academy at Thousand Oaks High School. The market also gave students a chance to clean out their closets and showcase their handmade items while making a profit.ย
