California Lutheran University’s iCLU Radio held its annual Lip Sync Battle on Tuesday, April 15.
iCLU Radio President and Co-Host of the Lip Sync Battle, Amanda Janssen said that her favorite part of the event is always the performers, especially having been a performer herself in past years.
“It feels like a very full circle moment for me to go from performer to president to host slash announcer,” Janssen said.
The event featured five performances including songs from Disney movies and shows, “A Minecraft Movie”, and some of today’s top artists, along with snacks, pizza, and a Kona Ice Truck.
Professor of Communication Russell Stockard, Associate Professor of Film and Television David Grannis, and Monique Nunes, President John Nunes’ wife, made up the judging panel.
Station manager and iCLU Club Advisor Giana Gutridge said Stockard and Grannis have been part of the Lip Sync Battle since they started the event four years ago, after they had been her professors during her undergraduate years.
“Stockard and Grannis have been doing this event for all four years of the Lip Sync Battle, and then Ms. Mo is just a firecracker, a character on her own, so we knew they were all going to have amazing commentary, and I was very happy to see them today,” Janssen said.
The event concluded with all contestants receiving trophies for their performances.
